NFL is the most popular sport by far, attracting massive crowds to giant stadiums – as well as huge TV audiences.

The season is tightly packed into a five-month period, beginning in September and climaxing with the Super Bowl at the start of February the following year. The fixtures run right across Thanksgiving in late November, and the Super Bowl is always the most watched TV event of the year, with the glamour of a huge music star providing the half time entertainment.

Interest from the UK has mushroomed since the NFL International Series arrived in London, with the capital city now hosting several regular season fixtures every Autumn.

America’s traditional summer sport is of course baseball, and no trip to the States would be complete without a day at the ballgame. Legendary players such as Babe Ruth and Joe DiMaggio are famous the world over, and the biggest franchises can be found on the east coast – the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox.

Head indoors for fast-paced basketball in the world’s biggest league. NBA is home to some of the highest paid sports stars. The likes of Miami Heat in Florida and California’s Golden State Warriors have dominated in recent years but there are big name clubs in action wherever you go.

Ice hockey is huge too, with NHL teams spread across the USA and Canada. They compete for the Stanley Cup: the Pittsburgh Penguins and Chicago Blackhawks have won two apiece in the past decade but 2018 saw the Washington Capitals win it for the first time, beating the new Vegas Golden Knights in five games.

Add in the growing success of MLS football, the US Open tennis at Flushing Meadows in New York plus three golf majors, and there’s no shortage of sporting action to enjoy.

There is huge demand for tickets at many of the biggest US sports fixtures. We have been organizing hassle-free sports trips since 1997 – book your hotel and ticket package now!
